Dr. Wojciech Siegień’s May trip to Ukraine was planned as part of his research on Ukrainian youth organizations operating in eastern and southern Ukraine. The main goal was to establish contact with activists of the Tju cultural platform (ТЮ), operating in the city of Mariupol (at the southern tip of Ukraine by the Sea of Azov, on the borders of the city there is a line of demarcation from separatist organizations). Beside this, the goal was to establish cooperation with the H.S. Skovoroda National Pedagogical University in Kharkiv.
As a guest speaker, Dr. Wojciech Siegień gave a lecture entitled “The Problem of Militarization of Childhood. The case of Poland”, which was in part a presentation of some of the theoretical assumptions of the project “Heterotopias of Citizenship”.
